A Morning in Didsbury Park – Volunteer Gardening Day- Monday 3rd Feb
Organisation Details
University of Manchester Volunteering & Awards Team
Activity type: Environment and Gardening, Practical Work and DIY
Sub theme: Mental Health
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Description of role: Join us and the Friends of Didsbury Park group for a rewarding day in one of Manchester’s most beloved green spaces, voted 'Most Favourite Park' in the city in 2022!
On the day, we’ll be rolling up our sleeves and getting involved in a variety of activities, including planting bulbs, sowing seeds, weeding, composting flower beds, painting children’s playgrounds, pruning, and more. It’s a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the park’s upkeep while enjoying the great outdoors.
The Friends of Didsbury Park Volunteers group was formed in November 2014 and meets regularly every week come rain, hail or shine to work in Didsbury Park. To date the volunteers have undertaken over 47,000 hours of voluntary service to maintain and improve the park. In July 2018 the Friends of Didsbury Park became a charity, primarily in order to access more funding available to charities so that more and more investment could be made into improvements in Didsbury Park.
