Organisation Description: Manchester Young Lives has provided free open access play and youth provision to children and young people aged 6 to 18 years from disadvantaged backgrounds for 54 years. The charity’s origins lie in the development of adventure playgrounds built and run by local communities using volunteers; today the charity has 3 purpose-built adventure playgrounds in Ardwick, Moss side and Wythenshawe which are used by hundreds of children and young people each week, we also deliver play and youth from satellite spaces in Higher Blackley and Brooklands.
The charity also runs a Post 16 programme which prepares young people aged 16 to 24 years with an Education Health Care Plan to enter training or employment by offering a programme of Functional skills qualifications and enrichment activities. Our Youth Engagement Team engages marginalised young people 16 to 24 years via our street-based detached programme, referring them into services where necessary to improve their future career opportunities.
OUR MISSION
Manchester Young Lives mission is to promote the social and educational inclusion of children and young people. We believe everyone can improve their life chances through learning and make a successful transition to adult life given the right opportunities, support and guidance.
