We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Youth and Community Workers to join our team on a volunteer basis. As a Community Youth Volunteer, you will play a vital role in engaging and supporting our organisation's mission to enhance public health and community wellbeing of young people, community members and local organisations.
This position offers an opportunity to engage with diverse groups, lead initiatives, and contribute to meaningful projects that make a difference in the lives of others. You will work closely with team members to educate the community, manage projects, and promote our activities through various channels, including social media.
Key responsibilities
The role holder is responsible for:
• building and maintaining relationships with community members, including parents, educators, local partners, and organisations,
• Providing support and mentorship to youth participants, helping them to develop their personal skills and talents.
• Educate community members about public health issues and available resources.
• Lead and supervise volunteer teams during community events and projects.
• Manage specific projects from inception to completion, ensuring objectives are met effectively.
• Assist in fundraising efforts to support community initiatives.
• Market events and programmes through social media management and other promotional activities.
• Collaborate with local organisations and stakeholders to enhance outreach efforts.
Desirable skills - No experience needed
• Can do attitude and willingness to deliver in youth work, community outreach, or a related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds easily.
• A compassionate and patient approach to working with young people and community members.
• Knowledge of public health principles and practices is preferred.
• Excellent organisational skills, multitasking skills, and time management with attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive team dynamic.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with diverse audiences.
• A genuine interest in community education and community services.
• A passion for community service and a commitment to making a positive impact.
