Audio Music Lesson Creator Volunteer (AAA 24-25)
Organisation Details
Audio
Sub theme: Children, Education, Youth Work and Young People
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Description of role: Music Workshop Content Creator / Designer
Audio is a project that aims to widen access to higher education for children from underrepresented backgrounds in Manchester by providing music theory workshops to primary school children. With the aim of inspiring children to pursue a passion for music, as well as introducing the idea of further education to them, we are looking for volunteers to design workshop session content suitable to present during the workshops.
The Audio project aims to conduct six sessions in a single school over a period of six weeks, with a look at conducting the workshops in more schools throughout the year. As a content creator volunteer the role will involve creating a presentation or booklet and activities for children (year 5) to engage with for the duration of the workshop (1 hour). The topic can be something related to music that you are particularly interested in, or some suggestions include workshops on rhythm, composition, music history, Manchester bands, album art, practical activities involving instruments, etc.
If you are a creative individual who is passionate about music or the arts, and want to spread your passion to young people who otherwise may not get the opportunity, please register your interest using the apply button! You will work in collaboration with the project leader to design a single session, or more depending on how many hours of volunteering you would like to commit to. The work hours are flexible for this role as you can complete the content in your own time of when suits you best. Your volunteer hours will be logged based on how many hours were spent in total on design and creation.
There are also volunteer opportunities available in assisting the running of the workshops (DBS required), so there is opportunity to get involved in the actual sessions as well as their creation if this is something you are interested in.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email the project leaders (Ellie and Erin) at Audioaaa.uom@gmail.com
