Description of role: Want to learn more about responsibility and have a keen interest to explore the UK? Then the International Society Leader role is perfect for you!
The International Society is a community for all in Manchester. Our aim is to help students adapt to life at university and the city, as well as give them opportunities to explore and learn more about culture in the UK and the wider world. As an International Society Leader, you will be one of our representatives and in charge of a number of key responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
• Trip Leader (at least once a month): We run an extensive trips programme, to which you will be in charge of running and ensuring it all goes smoothly. This includes ticket checking, liaising with coaches and other external shareholders that we deal with while on trips, as well as dealing with any minor issues that can potentially arise on the day. You will receive training on how to properly carry out this role.
• Social Media: While on our trips, you will be required to create social media posts to show off our trips and community. You will receive training on how to do this.
• Social Helper (at least once a month): In addition to trips, we also run regular weekly socials. You may be required to assist at socials each month, speaking with students and assisting staff where necessary.
Outcomes:
• The International Society Leader role is part of the Step Up and Lead aspect of the Stellify Award. More info on Stellify can be found here (https://www.stellify.manchester.ac.uk/)
• You will be required to have completed at least 3 trip to qualify for the Stellify Award
• A great opportunity to learn about responsibility and leadership
• We can be used a volunteering reference.
• Also a great chance to explore the UK and learn more about it yourself!
