Organisation Description: Little Green Sock Project is a children's charity providing essential clothing, toiletries and equipment to families in crisis - we do this by reusing children's items donated by the local community and supporting organisations. This could be due to financial hardship or circumstances such as escaping war or domesic abuse. We work with a wide range of referral partners who refer families for support, and we support approx 100 children per month.
Description of role: *Researchers needed!*
We believe the support we provide to families have far wider benefits than what it appears on the surface. Our referrers tell us that as a result of our support families engage with their support services further and it helps them to build trusting professional relationships with the families.
Many of the families we support are from the most marginalised communities such as refugees, asylum seekers and those fleeing domestic abuse. Health inequalities are vast in these communities. We want to evidence the impact our support has on support services being able to build relationships with their clients from these communities, whilst also providing the basics to support early childhood development.
We hope to be able to work with an experienced researcher who can help us design the research project, plan and implement, then analyse, evaluate the work. We expect to utilise our referrer base to obtain qualitative data through interviews, case studies, and family interviews in collaboration with our partners in the Domestic Abuse refuge and Homestart, and through families we have developed relationships with over the last 6 months since offering face to face support.
The research will enable us to be far clearer in measuring our impact on our community and will make our charity more appealing to funders, commissioners and supporters.
We are in Stretford Mall which is a short walk from Stretford MetroLink.
