Museum Schools Visit Volunteer

Organisation Details

The Pankhurst Trust (incorporating Manchester Women's Aid)

Activity type: Children, Culture, Education, Heritage, Museums
Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Organisation Description: A variety of volunteering opportunities across all aspects of The Pankhurst Trust. Namely, offering support to Manchester Women's Aid service users and helping with the heritage projects involved in The Pankhurst Centre.
Description of role: Do you want to gain experience supporting children to learn local history? Enjoy spending time in museums and available on Friday mornings?

Schools Volunteers are a vital part of our school's programme, at the Pankhurst Museum, helping us to make the museum a welcoming and inclusive place for children to visit.

Volunteers facilitate activities on our workshops and help to share the story of this iconic building with young people. In return, Schools Volunteers receive training and develop skills in museum education, social learning and creative responses to curriculum objectives.

As one of our Schools Volunteers, you will work with a range of schools from around Greater Manchester, gaining broad experience of working with young people of different ages, abilities and needs.

We're the Pankhurst Museum the only place where people can visit a former home of the Pankhurst family, and is the only museum dedicated to telling the story of women’s fight for the right to vote.
