Description of role: ENGLISH LANGUAGE CONVERSATION PROJECT - with UoM student volunteers
English language conversations led by Manchester-based students at the Chrysalis Centre
Would you like to make a difference in your local community while you study?
Are you interested in learning more about the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers?
Would you like to work with people from a range of language and cultural backgrounds?
Are you thinking about teaching English abroad or in the UK?
If YES, Volunteer for our English language conversation project!
- As a volunteer for this activity, you will facilitate English conversation sessions at a local community centre.
- The sessions are attended largely by refugees and asylum seekers and provide a valuable opportunity for participants to practice speaking English in an informal, friendly, environment.
-Conversation sessions run on a weekly basis on a Wednesday from 13.00-14.30 and most volunteers attend roughly one to two sessions per month.
-Each session is led by a small group of student volunteers.
-You do not need any prior experience to get involved and you will have the opportunity to take part in training sessions through the year.
