Description of role: Continuing our successful partnership with Alliance Française de Manchester we will be hosting a new season of French Cinema on Sundays at Altrincham Little Theatre, starting October 2024.
This unique cooperation presents an opportunity to see a wide range of French films with English subtitles, some of which may not have been released commercially in the UK. Each film will be introduced by a member of Alliance Française de Manchester, who will also conduct the post-screening discussion.
Screenings are at Altrincham Little Theatre on a full-size cinema screen. Complimentary refreshments will be offered in the theatre bar.
We are recruiting volunteers for the roles below:
• Role 1 - Film introduction and Q&A. You need to be interested in film and be able to present -a 15 minute intro. After the screening you will lead the audience discussion.
• Role 2 - Box office meet and greet, check off the audience list and direct the audience to the coffee bar and auditorium (no cash handling).
• Role 3 - Coffee bar, dispense filter coffee and tea (no cash handling).
• Role 4 - Project the film from a DVD/Blu-Ray or from a laptop. Setup the projector and sound.
• Role 5 - Publicity and social media posts.
Full instruction and support will be given for all the roles.
On screening days Saturday and Sunday, you will need to be at the theatre by 2.00 pm. The required period is no more than four hours.
Benefits, as a volunteer you will be able to see all 26 films in the season for free. You will be invited to the volunteer’s annual dinner in February at no cost to the volunteers.
