Organisation Description: Caritas is the social action agency of the Diocese of Salford covering Grt Mcr and Lancs. We work with those experiencing poverty, disadvantage, homelessness, social isolation and those seeking asylum or refugee status. We provide practical support, deliver services and advocate for those who are vulnerable and marginalised.
We are currently involved in delivering housing, information support and guidance and educational support to asylum seekers and refugees within Manchester.
Cornerstone Day Centre, which is one of our projects situated only 10 minutes away from Manchester University, currently runs English and mathematic classes to over 70+ asylum seekers and refugees who attend in order to improve their skills and gain qualifications needed to achieve their goals and aspirations.

Description of role: As the cost-of-living crisis continues to hit people in our area hard, we’ve introduced a brand-new service which aims to help people save money on their energy bills and improve the efficiency of their consumption too.
Volunteer with our Energy Advice Workers to help them save people money on their energy bills and stay warmer throughout the year.
We want you to support our specialist Energy Advice Workers who will work alongside people visiting our Cornerstone, Red Door and Lalley Centre services, as well as running a series of drop-in and information sessions at locations across the diocese. By volunteering with us you will help many families and individuals experiencing challenging times save money on their energy costs.
- Accompanying energy workers on home visits to support with providing advice to help people save money regarding their energy costs.
- Accompanying energy workers to events and supporting with presenting and sharing of advice.
