Role Description
Are you interested in ethical travel and making a genuine, positive impact overseas? Kaya Responsible Travel offers a wide range of ethical volunteering opportunities across Africa, Asia and Latin America, focused on supporting local communities in a responsible and sustainable way.
These placements are carefully designed to avoid “voluntourism” and instead support locally led projects that respond to real community needs. Volunteers gain valuable international experience while contributing meaningfully to long-term development goals.
What will you be doing?
Depending on your interests, skills and destination, volunteering roles may include:
- Community development and social projects
- Education and youth support
- NGO support, business development and fundraising
- Healthcare-related support roles (non-clinical or observational, depending on experience)
- Arts, media and creative community initiatives
Who can apply?
- University students and recent graduates
- Individuals or groups of friends
- No previous experience required for most placements
- A positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to learn
Practical details
- All Kaya volunteering placements are self-funded. Project fees typically include:
Accommodation
Airport pick-up and drop-off
Some or all meals (depending on the placement)
In-country orientation
24-hour local support throughout your placement
