Stellify Award: This opportunity is part of 'Make a Difference'
Description of role: As a leading charity in the UK working with LGBTIQ+ people seeking asylum and refugees, African Rainbow Family is in need of passionate and motivated volunteers to help us continue making a difference in the lives of queer migrants.
We are excited to be introducing our new volunteering concept of Volunteering Committees. Each of these groups will focus on a specific area of support for African Rainbow Family, allowing our volunteers to exercise their skill sets in these areas or learn brand new skills to carry forward in your future careers or personal endeavours.
Your role as a Refugee Social Activities Coordinator will form part of a committee of people, made up of both Experts by Experience within the asylum system and passionate allies. The aim of the committee is to independently coordinate a range of social events and activities to reduce isolation, improve a sense of community and queer solidarity, and support positive integration between LGBTIQ+ people seeking asylum and refugees and their LGBTIQ+ siblings here in the UK.
We are looking for several committed volunteers to establish regular outings or groups, such as a hiking group, singing choir, football team and more. We are happy to hand over much of the actioning to our volunteers once they have been fully inducted.
We hope to have you join us soon!
