Organisation Description: LIGHTSS is a project run by The University of Manchester in collaboration with the Students' Union Access All Areas to tutor GCSE students at Trinity Highschool in STEM subjects (especially Chemistry and Biology). You will provide students with support and assistance to reach their full academic potential and to open doors of opportunity for the future. Furthermore, you will work to raise educational aspirations of young minds and help them gain confidence when taking exams, especially of STEM subjects. Trinity church of England high school is a two minute walk from the University of Manchester campus. It will be the main responsibility to visit the school on time and tutor students. This will involve gamifying sessions, providing interactive study material, doubt clearing sessions and help with revision techniques. Volunteers are expected to work in liaison with the students union leaders (Access all areas and LIGHTSS project leaders) and Trinity High School. You will offer training in accordance with Trinity High School's educational environment, curriculum, values, and vision.
