Organisation Description: Blue Letter Project is a non-profit organization focusing on psychological accompaniment and research for left-behind children.

There are 26.7 million left-behind children in China, whose parents work and live in other places for a living. Blue Letter trains volunteers to provide left-behind children with one-on-one long-term (more than one year) letter companionship, guiding them to grow up healthily and happily.

Blue Letter has provided letter service to 300 schools in 26 provinces and cities in China, and sending and receiving more than 999,277 letters. Until now, we have 76,180 registered volunteers and cover more than 1,000 colleges and universities nationwide.

Blue Letter came to the UK in 2020, supported by over 200 volunteers from more than 10 UK universities who have contributed more than 6,000 volunteering hours to our cause.

Blue Letter was awarded the "National Rural Left-behind Children Care Service and Rights Protection Demonstration Project" and recognized by the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office as one of the "50 Best Cases of Volunteer Poverty Alleviation" in 2019. Our work has been reported by mainstream media such as CCTV1, People's Daily, and Southern Weekend.

Blue Letter Projectis a non-profit organization focusing on psychological accompaniment and research for left-behind children.
There are 26.7 million left-behind children in China, whose parents work and live in other places for a living. Two of the biggest dilemmas faced by left-behind children, which are often overlooked by adults, are the lack of parental care and academic pressure.
Blue Letter trains volunteers to provide left-behind children with one-on-one long-term (more than one year) letter companionship, guiding them to grow up healthily and happily.
However, up to now, Blue Letter only covers 0.3% of them, We urgently need your love and persistence to accompany them and listen to their voices through the most traditional letters.

@ What you will do as a Letter Ambassador?
Firstly, you will be trained by our professional psychological experts to introduce the volunteering process and real cases scenarios (training sessions are held online).
After completing the training, you will be matched with a left-behind child, on a 12-month commitment (one letter per month). Then you will start writing to your special friend!

@ IMPORTANT:
* All processes including application, training, letter writing, and letter sending are held online, which are not affected by your time zones.
* Time Commitment: 1~2 hours per month
* As the main part of this volunteering is writing letters to left-behind children based in China, we require volunteers proficient in writing/speaking in Chinese.
