Organisation Description: The Peak District National Park Authority was created in 1951 through legislation to conserve and promote understanding of the special qualities of the landscape. While carrying out these purposes it also has a duty to foster the economic and social well-being of the communities within the National Park.

The organisation employs planners, archaeologists, ecologists, tree specialists, rangers and estate staff, legal and marketing teams. It manages it's own sites such as estates and multi user trails as well as overseeing the public use of privately owned upland moorland for walking. There are a number of volunteer opportunities ranging from volunteer rangers, estate and conservation tasks to specialist roles such as monitoring of protected monuments and scientific surveys of protected moorland habitats.

The Peak District National Park has a wide variety of volunteering opportunities. you can check the current volunteering opportunities at https://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/looking-after/volunteering/current-volunteering-opportunities

Description of role: The Green Leaders programme (young people 18-25) is about giving young people the opportunity to take a leadership role in caring for and protecting our National Parks, nature and the environment. These projects run once a month, working alongside the staff from the Peak Park Conservation Volunteers team undertaking practical conservation projects around the Peak District National Park. As part of the day there is an opportunity to meet and chat with a person who has developed a career with National Park or in the environmental sector.
