We also run monthly Together In Song Gospel Choir which meets monthly on Saturdays

We also have our pioneering Together @ Home Befriending Service, were volunteers are matched with a carer and person living with Dementia where a weekly day and time is agreed with volunteers, offering companionship, respite for cares and taking part in activities including: art and crafts, walks and gentle exercise, play various memory games and make friends!

We also have our monthly Dementia Cafes, where carers meet monthly to bond with each other and offer support and advice. Many of these carers brig a person living with dementia with them. We need volunteers to support at these cafes to try and give the carers some respite.

We need volunteer support to enable Together Dementia Support to provide a much needed service for people living with Dementia and the carers.
Description of role: Dementia Cafes are a great opportunity for carers of people living with Dementia to socialise and share their experiences.

Many of the carers who attend the cafes are struggling and need a break but still have to bring the person they care for with them.

Whilst the carers are able to get massages, share their concerns and gain advice from our Carer Support Leader and admiral nurses, our volunteers are a helping hand on the opposite side of the room for the people living with dementia.

As a volunteer you will chat, do activities and be a general support to people living with dementia, many of which will need 1:1 support.

The dementia cafes are only once a month so if you have less time available to volunteer every week, this could be the volunteering opportunity for you.
