Description of role: Powerhouse Library is one of the only youth libraries in the UK and we take the wellbeing of children and young people very seriously. Part of this is ensuring they get the support they need to thrive in school. Do you think you can give something back to the community and give a local child a hand with their homework? Experience is helpful but not required.
We would like to re-start the Homework Club at Powerhouse Library from September 2025.
Mondays 4:30-6:30.
Minimum commitment of three months required. You will be expected to stay for the whole session.
You will gain experience of teaching and educating. You will gain experience working with young people and children in a group setting or on a one-to-one basis. The skills you gain are valuable and can be added to CVs or applications. You will be part of something worthwhile and hopefully have some fun!
Someone who likes working with children and young people would benefit from this opportunity. An outgoing, confident personality would be ideal, as would be some knowledge of the school system. You need to be able to communicate well with children and be able to find information needed, either online, or in books.
Powerhouse Library is in Moss Side, very close to Denmark Road. Closest bus route is number 15 but numbers 101 & 103 are also close by. We are in walking distance from the main campus.
