Organisation Description: Assist is a registered charity based in Withington Methodist Church which has been running successfully since 1969, supporting older people in our local community of Withington and including parts of Fallowfield and Didsbury.

For some older people, growing older can be a lonely business... family have moved away, friends have moved on, and getting out of the house can be difficult.
Description of role: Come and support our small but friendly older persons charity in Withington.

Role purpose:
- Support the Assist members to access activities at Assist
- Give lifts to occasional appointments
- With the help of Assist reduce the risk of social isolation and loneliness for an Assist member

Opportunities:
- Develop a meaning relationship with an older person
- Volunteer training opportunities
- Becoming part of the Assist family and connect with your local community
- To meet other volunteers and take part in social activities

What we would love you to bring to the role:
- Your own car, an in-date licence, MOT, Road Tax and insurance policy.
- An interest in getting to know an older person
- Interested in your local area
- Enjoy meeting and chatting with older people and other volunteers
- 6 months minimum involvement
