Description of role: Manchester Settlement support young asylum seekers and refugees with their accommodation and independence skills through our supported housing project. A big part of our service focuses on group work activities to encourage our young people to build a supportive community.
We run two weekly drop in sessions where our young people come and hang out at our office, play pool, table tennis and PlayStation take part in art and craft activities etc. We also regularly have outside agencies running sessions such as music, drama and dance.
We also run a fortnightly programme of planned events called Horizons, a mixture of fun activities and trips such as song writing and go karting, and educational, skill building sessions like first aid, mental health support, upcycling etc.
We are looking for someone to come and join these sessions, build positive relationships with the young people, bring fresh and new ideas and just have a good time!
There is also the opportunity to join in with activities during the college holidays.
