Organisation Description: We’re FoodCycle – a national charity that combines volunteers, surplus food and spare kitchen spaces to create tasty, nutritious meals for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.
We run over 38 projects across the UK, united by the simple idea that food waste and food poverty should not coexist.
As we are run by volunteers we don't always have a chance to check our emails every day.
If you are a volunteer signed up to a session and can no longer attend, please visit https://volunteer.foodcycle.org.uk/volunteer-account-overview [volunteer.foodcycle.org.uk] and remove yourself from upcoming opportunities as soon as possible.
If you are new to FoodCycle and wish to sign up to volunteer, all you need to do is go to our website https://volunteer.foodcycle.org.uk/ [volunteer.foodcycle.org.uk]. You will need to register and then you can sign into the calendar for the dates you're available for. Other than that just turn up on the day! The address of the centre is included on the website page.
For anything urgent, please contact FoodCycle Head Office on 020 77 292775 or at hello@foodcycle.org.uk

Description of role: We’re FoodCycle – a national charity that combines volunteers, surplus food and spare kitchen spaces to create free tasty, nutritious meals for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.
We run over 100 projects across the UK, united by the simple idea that food waste and food poverty should not coexist. Our Salford Langworthy project is closer to Manchester city centre than you might think. It's on the number 50 bus service that runs past the University and through the city centre and we can pay travel expenses to ensure you aren't out of pocket.
Come and join us at our regular Tuesday or Thursday night cooking session. We cook for a community of around 20-35 people and serve a delicious array of dishes! Even if you can't cook our friendly team will find you a role in our kitchen.
Tuesday 4.30pm-8.30pm and Thursdays 5.0pm - 9.00pm. The cooking team is in charge of turning the surplus goods into amazing dishes. Everything from choosing, chopping, cooking (& sampling) are the main roles of the team, along with ensuring that we wash-up as we go. You'll also get a chance to sit with the guests and enjoy our creations.
Tuesdays 6pm -8.30pm Thursdays 6pm-9pm. We need a couple of volunteers to help set-up the cafe area and ensure everyone's got a proper cuppa! Your main responsibilities will be laying the table, serving food, chatting to guests and helping clear up afterwards.
Once registered you can sign up to volunteer at sessions at any of our projects - there's no ongoing commitment, just sign up when it suits you. Our other projects are in Wythenshawe (Wednesday evening), Salford Central (Wednesday evening), Levenshulme (Thursday evening) and Prestwich (Saturday evening).
If you want to take on more of a leading role and can commit to attending at least once a month for a minimum of 9 months you might want to look at one of our project leader roles.
