Organisation Description: Caring for disadvantaged children through Computer Skills, Education, Healthcare, Community Development, Social Housing and Poverty Alleviation.
Description of role: This volunteer opportunity welcomes anyone eager to dedicate time to enhancing the computer skills of children aged 7 to 16. No prior experience in volunteering or teaching is necessary, as training will be provided. Volunteers should possess skills in any of the following areas: Coding, Sequencing, Variables, Program Constructs, Python, Algorithms, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc. A passion for technology, patience, and the ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms are essential.

The project, through a computer learning program, aims to improve the life prospects and self-esteem of children in Salford and Bury. The free program runs every Tuesday and Friday from 6-8 pm. It includes guest speakers who inspire the children with talks on future aspirations and goals. Classes are kept small, with a maximum of 12 children, ensuring personalized attention.

Many of these children lack access to computers at home and do not receive computer education at school, placing them at a disadvantage compared to their peers. Our program addresses this gap.

Benefits & Rewards include:

1) A Volunteering Award Certificate & Recognition;
2) Valuable experience for your CV and a reference when needed;
3) Teamwork opportunities to enhance interpersonal and IT skills;
4) Coverage of travel expenses as per our Volunteer Policy;

We encourage all volunteers to grow their skills and seize training and advancement opportunities.
