Description of role: Are you a university student passionate about inspiring the next generation? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to deliver interactive presentations to primary school pupils at Co-op Academy Medlock, a local school close to the university.
Volunteers can choose to deliver one of two types of sessions:
π Aspirations and careers
* Talk about your university experience and subject of study
* Share your academic journey and what inspired you
* Spark curiosity and show them the exciting possibilities for their future
π Faith and culture:
* Talk about a celebration, festival, or tradition associated with your faith and/or culture
* Open their eyes to different cultures!
Whatβs involved?
* A short, interactive talk suitable for primary school children
* Choose either an inspirations-focused session, or a faith and/or culture-focused session (or both!)
* Preparation will involve researching and creating your presentation and running through it with a member of the volunteering team a few days prior to the session (just to help you feel more prepared!)
This is a great opportunity to:
* Develop public speaking and communication skills
* Gain experience engaging with young people
You can present alone or in a small group of 2-3 students. If applying as a group, please indicate this in your application.
Your total volunteering hours will include both preparation and presentation time, amounting to 5 hours in total.
Successful applicants will receive a confirmation email with further details. The first date is Wednesday 18 November.
The deadline to apply is Thursday 12 November.
If you have any questions, please email saniyyah.ali@manchester.ac.uk.
