Description of role: Role/opportunity description
We’re looking for 6 enthusiastic volunteers to help run an event for Second Hand September (Oxfam's annual campaign to promote sustainable fashion). On Tuesday the 22nd of September we will be hosting a creative workshops, a sustainable styling competition, and community engagement activities at the Oxfam Superstore.
Volunteers will support with:
Welcoming and guiding attendees
Assisting at workshop and activity stations
Helping set up and pack down event spaces
Supporting the styling competition area
Promoting sustainable fashion and Oxfam’s mission throughout the day
You’ll be working closely with Oxfam staff, community partners, and members of the public in a dynamic, fun environment.
Time commitment
This is a short-term opportunity taking place on:
22th September 2026
🕥 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM (includes prep and wrap-up time)
Please try to reach the Oxfam Superstore at 3PM since this gives us time to answer any of your questions and prepare our workshop before we begin the event.
Desirable/essential skills and qualifications
Friendly and approachable attitude
Good communication skills
Interest in sustainability or second-hand fashion (desirable, not essential)
Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment
Full briefing will be provided before the event.

Getting there
The event takes place at the Oxfam Superstore, The Fort Retail Park, Cheetham Hill Road, Manchester M8 8EP.
Buses 41, 135, and 52 stop nearby, and it’s a 10–15 minute walk from Manchester Fort Shopping Park.
