Organisation Description: The biggest and best park in the North West! Heaton Park is located four miles north of the city centre and is one of the largest municipal parks in Europe. The park covers 247 hectares of parkland and is ringed by the former mill towns of Oldham, Rochdale and Bury.
The park is a Grade II listed park on English Heritage's Register of Historic Parks and Gardens, Heaton Park contains 8 listed structures including the splendid Grade I listed Heaton Hall, and has been a Green Flag Award winning park since 2005!
Its spectacular, gently rolling scenery provides an attractive setting for leisure activities for visitors of all ages. It is also a memorable setting for many outdoor events, like summer fun days and family workshops, funfairs, concerts and other major events. There's an 18-hole and an 18-hole pitch and putt on site. There are four on-site cafes, located at The Farm Centre, the Lakeside, in the Golf Centre and the Garden Centre. All serving hot and cold food and drinks.
Manchester City Council manages the park in partnership with commercial organisations and community groups and together they make a visit to Heaton Park a great day out for the whole family.

Description of role: Volunteer Call-Out: Litter Picking Disco Party!
Sunday 22nd March 2026 – Heaton Park
We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring energy, fun, and community spirit to our Litter Picking Disco Party! If you love getting involved, chatting with visitors, and supporting positive change for the environment, we’d love to have you join us.
When & Where
Arrive: 10:30am for briefing and set-up
Activities: 11:00am – 12:00pm
Pack-down: Until approx. 12:15pm
Meeting Point: Park Reception, Stables Café Courtyard (Farm Centre)

What You'll Be Doing
You’ll help run party-game style litter-picking activities (think Musical Statues… with litter pickers!). Activities are led by the Programming & Engagement Officer, you will be helping to encourage visitors, support the games, and keep the vibe upbeat.

- This event takes place outdoors, so please dress for the weather.
- Litter-picking kit will be provided.

Travel Information
Driving - Enter via St Margaret’s Road, off Bury Old Road (M25 2GT). Park in the northern car park near the play area. Parking is £3.50 all day (Pay & Display). Walk down the slope toward the buildings; Farm Centre is on your right.
Public Transport
Tram: Bury Line → Heaton Park stop. Enter the park gate opposite the station stairs. Walk straight ahead, then left at the T-junction and up the hill. Follow signs to Stables Café / Farm Centre (10–15 mins)
Bus: Served by routes x35, 59, 90, 135, 149, 156, 164, 484
