Role description
We’re looking for 6 enthusiastic volunteers to help run Threads of Communities, a free, vibrant event celebrating the 1st anniversary of the Oxfam Superstore. The event features creative workshops, a sustainable styling competition, and community engagement activities.
Volunteers will support with:
Welcoming and guiding attendees
Assisting at workshop and activity stations
Helping set up and pack down event spaces
Promoting sustainable fashion and Oxfam’s mission throughout the day
You’ll be working closely with Oxfam staff, community partners, and members of the public in a dynamic, fun environment.
This is a short-term opportunity taking place on:
Saturday 19 July 2025
10:00 AM – 6 PM (includes prep and wrap-up time)
Benefits/what you will gain

Essential skills:
Friendly and approachable attitude
Good communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team in a busy environment
Interest in sustainability or second-hand fashion (desirable, not essential)
1 hour online full briefing will be provided before the event. Date and time will be confirmed after volunteer recruitment. It will take place week commencing 14/07.
Getting there
The event takes place at the Oxfam Superstore, The Fort Retail Park, Cheetham Hill Road, Manchester M8 8EP.
Buses 41, 135, and 52 stop nearby, and it’s a 10–15 minute walk from Manchester Fort Shopping Park.
