Description of role: GrassRootsWeb creates attractive, custom-made websites with no fee for charities, and a greatly reduced fee for other organisations.
We do this by recruiting and training volunteers in web design, client interaction, and project leadership, helping them to find fulfilling employment in a difficult job market. Our energetic team is always looking for new members, especially people who are quick to learn new technology and keen to help good causes. We welcome people of all experience as we provide training for our volunteers.
GrassRootsWeb is built around beginner's needs - we've created a custom-built program so you can learn web development from scratch! This program cuts out all the mistakes, resource searching, and dead ends which we encountered when learning web design so you can dig into real projects as soon as possible.
How do we do this?
We recruit and train students in web design, client interaction, and project leadership, helping them to find fulfilling employment in a difficult job market. As a web designer, you will usually move towards more advanced projects as you gain experience, but the pace depends entirely on what is important to you. For example, if you're keen to be challenged from the outset, we won't hold you back; equally, if you enjoy doing lots of simple projects or only have a couple of hours a week to spare, that's no problem! This flexibility in roles holds true beyond web design - if you're keen to be involved in client acquisition and recruitment from the outset, we'll give you the training you need to get stuck in right away. Whatever your ambitions are at GrassRootsWeb, there are ways to make them happen, and happen fast.
