Organisation Description: The idea for YourB started in January 2015. YourB submitted the full application to the Finance Conduct Authority and Prudential Regulation Authority in 2019. We are delighted that YourB Credit Union Ltd is now authorised from 21 January 2020. That is the historic date for the first Sharia compliant credit union in the UK.

YourB is run by volunteers. You can offer your skills and your time.

You can become a Friend of YourB and help to raise funds to cover the running costs. You can make a difference to just one person or to a whole community. All donations large and small, especially regular contributions, will add up to make a huge difference.

We are looking for guarantors who can sponsor individual students.
Description of role: YourB Credit Union is the UK’s first Sharia compliant credit union for all faiths or none. We are a financial cooperative owned by our members, for our members who are ethically like-minded. We are self-financing and operate with a 100% volunteer group, providing savings and interest-free loans to members. We help members to understand and take control of their finances, work on their credit rating and build confidence through our ethical savings and loans products. We help students select an ethical financial option to support their pursuit of higher education and the financially disadvantaged to become financially included, and we also help to beat the payday lenders and loan sharks. This role is for up to 10 hours per month, flexible schedule and remote. This role is part of Friends of YourB who are working to promote the credit union and raise awareness and funding.

Requirements and personal specification
○ Self-motivated.
○ Willingness to learn new skills.
○ Able to manage own workload with minimum supervision.
○ Effective communicator, both written and verbal.
○ Well organised, confident and articulate.
○ High standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
Practical experience of:
○ Volunteer management.
○ Customer service.

Main purpose and tasks
○ Recruit, train, and manage volunteers.
○ May be requested to set up meetings and assist with fundraisers
○ Manage our media channel communications.
○ Role reports to Friends of YourB and manages volunteers of Friends of YourB.
○ Please note, this role does not manage the credit union officers.
○ Let us know if you are interested in the Coordinator role or to join as one of the
