We offer practical support for our women on a number of issues, including navigating the asylum process, support with accommodation and housing, educational access etc. We also offer bespoke one-to-one mental health support, as well as group activities to combat isolation and loneliness. Our policy and advocacy team campaign to make systematic change, and to spread awareness and understanding of the lived experiences of the women in our community.

We’re offering a brilliant opportunity to get involved with our organisation as part of our University of Manchester RWC Ambassadors Fundraising Group.

Getting Involved

As part of the UoM RWC Ambassadors Fundraising Group, you’ll work closely with our Events and Admin Co-Ordinator to spread the word about our organisation across campus and raise much needed funds for our charity. Fundraising can take makes shapes and forms, so it’s a wonderful chance to be creative and use your skills and interests to make a real difference. You’ll receive lots of support and advice on how to fundraise, whether you’re organising an online fundraising event or conducting face-to-face fundraising activities. This could be anything from talent shows or open mics nights, to quizzes, sporting events, and lots more!

Why should you get involved? There are loads of wonderful benefits to getting involved with fundraising, including:

• Making a real difference in the community! RWC are a small, local charity, so you’ll know that all the money you raise will go straight to helping the women in our community.
• Learning new skills! Even if you haven’t tried anything like this before, you’ll receive lots of support and will learn loads about fundraising and charity advocacy.
• Building your CV! We’ll be happy to provide references for you, whether you’re interested in working in the charity sector or a completely different field.
• Making new friends! Fundraising is always brilliantly social and fun, and it’s a great chance to meet other like minded people and collaborate in doing something brilliant.

What We Expect From You

We hoping to recruit a group of between 6 - 12 group members from the University of Manchester. It is understood that the group will all work together to put on around regular fundraising events or activities per academic term, to reach an annual fundraising target. You’ll receive lots of support and guidance from Refugee Women Connect, with regular Zoom calls with our team to get practical advice on how to maximise your fundraising and advocate for the charity.

Absolutely no experience needed! If you’re passionate about social justice and want to get involved with our community, we’d love to hear from you.
