Description of role: *Please note that this role is remote, with ambassadors carrying out the role on their own campus, with regular check-in's with Ygam via Teams.

Ygam is a UK harm prevention charity aiming to safeguard children and young people against gaming & gambling harms through awareness raising, education, and research.

We are looking for UK university students to join our volunteer Student Ambassadors team and help Ygam achieve its social purpose by reaching out to students at university.

This will be achieved by advising Ygam on key insights and the needs of students in relation to gaming & gambling, supporting with content development and/or social media, organising activities and awareness training for staff and students at your campus, and joining us at events to raise awareness of gaming and gambling harms.

Role Description:
• Attend training sessions provided/arranged by Ygam to gain knowledge about gaming and gambling harms, and the available support services

• Advise Ygam on key areas where the student voice is being lost and provide insight and understanding from a student perspective to help inform Ygam’s work and ensure it remains relevant and impactful.

• Support with content development e.g., training content reviews/social media/writing blogs.

• Organise and attend university campus events and/or training delivery sessions where possible to support the USE team’s university engagement and campaigns

• Engage with fellow students to raise awareness about the risks associated with gaming and gambling.

• Build relationships with key university contacts to raise awareness of gaming and gambling harms and to support future partnerships with the USE programme.

• Attend training sessions provided/arranged by Ygam to gain knowledge about gaming and gambling harms, and the available support services.

• To attend and participate fully in group meetings.

We ask that student ambassadors aim to attend a weekly volunteer meeting currently set for Tuesdays 4:00-5:00pm to check-in and set out/progress with individual and group actions. This runs online, via Teams.

All volunteers can request a reference after 6-months volunteering.

TO APPLY - please email your CV and Cover Letter to jessicaparker@ygam.org who will be in touch to discuss the role further. Your application should detail what you would bring to the Ygam Student Ambassador team and how your experiences (life and/or work) demonstrate our values of integrity, empathy, innovation, and empowerment.
